Shandong Eye Institute (SEI), established in Qingdao, Shandong Province, January 1991, undertakes vision research, medical education, eye care, and blindness prevention and treatment, with close integration of Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology (State Key Laboratory Cultivation Base), Qingdao University College of Ophthalmology, Qingdao Eye Hospital, Shandong Eye Hospital (Jinan, Shandong), and Shandong Optometry Center. In possession of a gross area of 35,000 square meters and capital assets of 360 million yuan, the institute now has over 300 faculty and staff members, including one academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, one national youth and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions, two provincial top talents in technology, one Taishan Scholarship professor, three doctoral program supervisors, and six master program supervisors.
